Repatriation is the arrival in Poland of people of Polish descent from the Asian part of the former USSR.
According to art. 52 par. 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland a person whose Polish origin has been found in accordance with the Act may settle permanently on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
Pursuant to the Repatriation Act, a person who declares Polish nationality and meets two conditions jointly is considered a person of Polish origin:
- at least one of her parents or grandparents or two great-grandparents was of Polish nationality.
- will show a connection with Polishness, in particular by nurturing Polish speech, traditions and customs.Repatriation is connected with the easier way to acquire Polish citizenship.
